Abstract

The activities of leisure habits seek, in practice, social relationships and entertainment, that would make people reach a psychosocial balance. With that, the leisure refers to the ways of spending free time, when people have already complied with their daily chores and appointments, meeting their basic needsranging from the intellectual and cultural enrichment to actual rest. The present study aims to evaluate the factor structure of the scale of leisure habits by gender, age and type of school. The test consisted of 609 individuals, equally distributed both men and women, from 12 to 18 years of age, from public and private schools in the city of João Pessoa-PB. They answered collectively in the classroom, the activities of leisure habits scale and socio-demographic questions. Through the analysis of structural equation modeling, it has been observed statistical indicators which confirmed the trifactorial structure (leisure instructive, enjoyment and hedonistic) by gender, age and school type, resembling format previously found in otherstudiesin the brazilian context.
