Abstract

469 students(161 men and 308 women) of a private university in Huancayo, a city in the highlands Peru´s, were asked to rate Atahualpa, Francisco Pizarro, Huáscar, and Diego de Almagro, the protagonists of the “first hour” of the conquest of Peru, in 13 pairs of adjectives (for example, poor-rich, authoritarian democratic) in a 1-7 scale (1=poor, authoritarian; 7=rich, democratic).Atahualpa and Huascar were rated as rich, strong, valiant and honest, and Pizarro and Almagro were rated as proud, modern but dishonests. An additionalfactorial analysis gave results which are discussed in the paper.
