Application of an inventory management system to reduce logistics costs in a metal-mechanical company

The objective of this research was to analyze at what level the application of an inventory management system will minimize logistic expenses to control materials, tools and machinery in a metal-mechanical company. Materials and methods. The methodology was applied, quantitative approach and pre-experimental design. Results. It was seen that the implementation of the SGI was related to the reduction of unnecessary personnel, new suppliers and training to the collaborators to increase their productivity, which as a result gave us a minimization of logistic costs with respect to the warehouse by 18% and increased productivity by 15%. Conclusions. The use of the main SGI models resulted in a significant reduction in logistics costs, obtaining a total savings of S/ 40,123.63
