Dysfunctional parental styles and aggressiveness in adolescents from educational institutions in the district of Huanchaco

Abstract

The present research, aimed to determine the relationship between dysfunctional parental styles and aggressiveness in a sample of 352 adolescents from educational institutions in the district of Huanchaco, is of substantive type and correlational design. To measure the variables, the scale of parental dysfunctional styles (MOPS) of Matalinares, Raymundo and Baca and the aggression questionnaire (AQ) of Buss and Perry were used. In the results at the level of dimensions, direct correlation was observed, with small effect size with respect to Indifference (father and mother) and aggressiveness dimensions. In addition, there was a direct correlation with medium effect size, regarding Abuse (father and mother) and aggressiveness dimensions. Finally, a direct correlation was found, with an effect size that varies between small and medium, regarding Overprotection (father and mother) and the aggressiveness dimensions.
