Preventive maintenance toincrease the availability and reliability of a 50 ton crane

Abstract

The present investigation was carried out in order to increase the availability and reliability of the 50 tonne crane of the Luguensi E.I.R.L shipyard; For this, a conclusive, descriptive -explanatory type research was used, with experimental research design in the pre experimental category; where the population was conformed by the 4 mobile telescopic cranes of the Luguensi E.I.R.L shipyard, andthe sample was the 50 ton crane. The data was collected through a fault report, criticality matrix and a maintenance questionnaire where the conditions of availability and reliability of the crane, its most critical elements and the current management system were identified; also, a data record and two formats for the design of the maintenance program were used; In addition, a format was prepared where the implementation of the preventive maintenance program was shown, after which the indicators were evaluated to verify if they increased. Finally, it was concluded that after implementing the preventive maintenance program the initial availability was increased by 0.04% and the reliability by 3.26%; reaching an availability of 98.96% and a reliability of 71.19%.
