Abstract

Modern spiritualism was a current belief in Peru since 1880. This investigation analyzes it in two moments. Firstly, the mental medicine censored and persecuted this creed. Some people were imprisoned and considered insane. In a second age, spiritualism was seen with scientific interest by some intellectualistsin the early twentieth century.
