Abstract

The research aimed to determine whether family functioning, perceived social support and self-efficacy for coping with stress are factors associated with psychological well-being among students of a private university of Trujillo. The sample consisted of 120 students of both sexes between 16 and 27 years, being selected by a random probability sampling type simple. The instruments used were the scale of psychological well-being, family APGAR questionnaire, multidimensional scale of perceived social support and self-efficacy scale for coping with stress. The results showed that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between the variables of family functioning and psychological well being (Rho = .37; sig.001); however, they showed that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between the variables perceived social support and psychological well-being (Rho = .43; sig.000); also determined that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between self efficacy variables for coping with stress and psychological well-being (Rho = .47; sig.000).
