Abstract

The research was carried out because we wanted to know about the types of linguistic calques that decrease the quality of the translation from English into Spanish in literary texts. The purpose of the research was to determine the types of calques used in the translation of the novel Un Mundo Feliz from English into Spanish published by Aldous Huxley. It will also allow future translators to deal with different types of problems that arise when doing a translation. The study was oriented to the understanding and its design was a case study, therefore, an analysis of the types of calques was made. Finally, they were divided into three categories: semantic, syntactic and lexical calques, of which the one that was found most was the semantic calque. It was concluded that 6 of the calques are the ones that predominate, since they completely affect the translation.
