This research was carried out with the purpose of analyzing the main difficulties that arise in the translation of idioms in the English language to the Spanish in the series the Simpsons, season 26 choosing the chapters 1, 2 and 3. A registration form, which was recorded all expressions found in each one of the chapters, and an observation guide, where translates from English to Spanish idiomatic expressions from each chapter. To identify the degree of difficulty of each expression an registration guide was created to carry out the corresponding analysis. We identified 37 idiomatic expressions, of which 19 were high difficulty for translation, because they did not have equivalent expressions in Spanish, 11 had difficult media since taking expressions equivalent in Spanish had to consider the context to make a good translation. Finally, seven idiomatic expressions had a low difficulty for translation because there are equivalent expressions in Spanish. Among the strategies used for the translation of idiomatic expressions substitution or adaptation, paraphrase, omission and compensation were.
