Abstract

The present research aims to determine the impact of the educational system on the deformation of cultural identity in primary school children in Vicos community. The sample population was made up of children from 5th "A" and 5th "B" of Primary Education, making a total of 38. Data were obtained through participant observation. To determine the endogenous factors of cultural identity, a survey was applied to know the identity of the children and how the educational system affects it; the historical method was used to analyze the evolution as a process in constant movement and change. In addition, the ethnographic method was applied to describe, interpret and understand the deformation of the children's cultural identity. The results show that the educational process is divorced from reality; teachers do not adapt the National Curriculum, which means that children prefer in a large percentage to practice folklore, develop foreign customs, and speak a language foreign to their culture. It is recommended that the educational process be applied considering the cultural characteristics of children, history, geography, literature and popular knowledge.
