Abstract

This research showed that the performance of teachers in an educational institution, with a competence management system, can be improved. Such a system was developed under the methodology on the Human Capital of Martha Alles. This research was conducted in the I.E. KIDS IN ACTION in the city of Trujillo in order to determine the skills of teachers; questionnaires, evaluation sheets, interviews were used, and the technique of observation to activities conducted by teachers was applied. This research was complemented by the development of a software application for managing information of teachers and to automate the assessment made by management. Finally, the competence management system has enabled the institution to define the specific skills needed to achieve its objectives; and because human resources and goals of the institution have been linked, the commitment of teachers and management are necessary in order to achieve, over time, the benefits of competency-based management.
