Abstract

The main objective of the present study is to compare the empowerment presented by a group of women that participate in social support organizations and other that does not participate. A 28 items Likert scale was used. After obtaining the Empowerment Scale validity and confiability, it was administered to 80 women that participate in social support organizations and to 89 women that do not (18-40 years old). All of them were from “Villa El Salvador” and of short economic resources.The results refers that the participation in social support organizations maximize the empowerment in a significant way only in younger women and in those with a higher educational level.
