Attitudes toward male and female homosexuality in adolescents and young people from Lima

This descriptive transverse study identifies the attitudes toward male and female homosexuality in adolescents and young people from Lima. It was worked with 400 adolescents and heterosexual young people, men and women, between 17 and 24 years. It was used the Attitudes toward Homosexuality Scale by Barra (2002), it was found that the sample presents less favorable attitudes toward gay and lesbian people. Men reflect negative attitudes compared with women, while people who knows a gay or a lesbian has positive attitudes. The results supported the evidence of negative attitudes against gays and lesbians in adolescent and young people population, this corroborates the results with similar samples in many parts of the world.
