Abstract

In the Residence of Family Medicine we learn to recognize the sick as people and not as a set of conditions, to interact with people globally in their different life cycles, to solve almost all of the consultation in Care Primary (CP) and congruently reduce the number of references; being thus, a specialty oriented in the CP, offers integral surveillance to the patient and his family in the surroundings of the community, which in our country began in 1989. The exercise of Family Medicine demands a swap of the biomedical model to the biopsychosocial and hold on supports such as being full, continuous, coordinated in the assistance and advice to the family. At present, this subject, like the CP in health, is more important than before.
