Natural Disaster Response: Military Interventions During Earthquakes, Floods and Other

The current global context is characterized by the increase in natural disasters, either occasionally or caused by human activity. Thus, an increase in the frequency of these phenomena can be observed, which has caused a risk scenario in the future. Given this scenario, it is required that, through a prospective vision, States can prepare and provide support to the population during these emergencies, for which the Armed Forces constitute the main tool of the State to fulfill this purpose. The general objective of the research was to analyze the response capacity to Natural Disasters: Interventions of the Army during Earthquakes, Floods, and other Natural Disasters. The methodology of the review article consists of the documentary analysis of the literature, the sample consisted of articles, magazines and official websites. The results show that the Peruvian Army has units in most of the national territory, which allows it to support the population during emergencies, as has been seen historically since 1970 during the avalanche that buried the city of Yungay in the "Callejón de Huaylas"; Likewise, in accordance with Law No. 29664, Law of the National Disaster Risk Management System (Sinagerd), it is concluded that the Army constitutes part of the First Response, as well as the Complementary Response to any emergency that arises as a result of natural disasters. It should be analyzed how the Army has been carrying out this type of tasks and how the participation of the Army can be improved during the response process with regard to Disaster Risk Management (DRM).
