Abstract

Objective. Propose a system of KPIs that allow to improve the monitoring and control of naval repair projects. Materials and methods. A pre-experimental design was used, with a quantitative approach. The population was made up of the processes of the TASA Shipyard, the sample being the processes corresponding to the operations area. The techniques used were: survey, observation and documentary analysis. The instruments used were: cost baseline record, project progress control report, questionnaire, training record and schedule sheet. Results. KPIs were found to be very influential as they are a good tool for project monitoring and control. Taking into account the schedule of activities, the progress control report and the cost baseline of the 3 most recent projects of TASA Astilleros, the variables and indicators were determined that guarantee constant monitoring of project execution based on PMI guidelines, such as: earned value (EV), planned value (PV), cost variance (CV), schedule variance (SV), performance index Cost (CPI) and Schedule Performance Index (SPI). Finally, to identify the most constant problems in relation to the project activities, a survey and the progress control report were used, from which the possible causes of the delay in the development of the activities. Conclusions. The proposal of the KPIs system in the monitoring and control of projects in a shipyard turned out to be beneficial, getting to know the real status of the project and identifying the problems that arise in the process.
