Objective. Evaluate the influence of the excitation current on electrical generation (electrical output parameters), using the Lucas Nülle GmbH multifunction motor.
Material and method. The materials to be used are the starter test bench for Lucas Nülle electric machines and the Multifunction electric machine, which simulates the operation of the electric generator. The technique of data collection was based on supplying a variable excitation current from a minimum value to the nominal excitation current of the machine to later evaluate the electrical parameters of output: voltage, current, active power, reactive power, apparent power and the power factor in an electrical generator with load (resistive and inductive). The research is experimental in the pre experimental category.
Results. It was determined that the parameters that concern the power generation are inefficient for very low excitation currents. The magnetization curve begins to saturate and to stop behaving linearly from 3 A forward.
Conclusions. It is important to monitor the excitation current in the synchronous generators, because if this value moves away from its nominal value it would cause inefficiency in the electric generation.
