The objective of the research was to reduce waste by improving indirect activities using the Coefficient of Waste by Method (CdM).The design was preexperimental, the population was the total of 10 direct and indirect activities and the sample was 4 indirect activities. The checklist was used to diagnose the situation in which the indirect activities were found,it was analyzwith the Pareto diagram, the CdM coefficient, the Ishikawa analysis and the questionnaire technique to determine improvement actions. The results showed that the main indirect activities such as "pipe washing and external manual washing" hada Non-Added Value Time of Operation (TONVA) of 1,149,90 secondsand that it was reduced to 171,80 seconds and a CdM coefficient of 2,56 reduced to 1,40.And for the activity of "uncovering and internal and external washing" with a Non-added Value Operating Time of 1,140,38secondsreduced to 27,24secondsand a CdM coefficient of 4,45reduced to 1,14.The implementation of improvements such as changing theworking method and the replacement of materials, managed to reduce the CdM coefficient of indirect activity 1 by 45,31% and 74,38% in indirect activity 2.All this with a return on investment of 2 months. The application of the improvements in the indirect activities manages to increase the level of production in 46,15% and productivity at 35,76%.
