Sociocultural manifestations and physical, spatial and functional conditions for the proposal of cultural center with Huanchaco Identity

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to study the cultural identity of the Balneario de Huanchaco residents, for which an analysis of the different sociocultural manifestations and physical, spatial and functional conditions required for the proposal of a cultural center with Huanchaco identity was made. An applied, non-experimental research was carried out, with a mixed, transversal approach. Likewise, the interview guide was used as data collection instrument directed at knowledgeable

authorities of the Huanchaco culture, users of cultural activities and specialized professionals. The questionnaire was applied to 73 residents and 73 tourists from Huanchaco, getting to the conclusion that crafts, patron saint festivities, cuisine, oral traditions and dances are the manifestations that identify the Balneario de Huanchaco, highlighting the caballitos de totora (small boats made of reed) and dances. Residents and tourists were identified as participating users of these activities. In this way, the environments for the architectural proposal were determined having in mind the activities, the participating users, and considering physical, spatial and functional characteristics suitable for the development of those activities.
