Abstract

The objective of the present research was to assess activity at Cesar Vallejo University of Trujillo in the application of environmental management and, eventually, bring forward action plans taking into account the environmental dimensions during its operation in the areas of management, research, extension, and university teaching. Additionally, an analysis was undertaken of the interaction between university and society as a key point towards the development and training of future professionals, knowledge production, execution of actions on university involvement in the community, and institutional practice aimed at ending solutions to local, regional and national problems. From 1998 to 2014, Cesar Vallejo University has been incorporating some environmental guidelines to the above-mentioned dimensions. A base diagnosis has been taken into account in order to determine the existing current state and put forward short and long term actions which will demonstrate University performance in the competitive market for environmental responsibility and the major axes of sustainability established in its Institutional Environmental Policy since 2012 (R.R. N°261-2012/UCV).
