The purpose of this work was to explain the methodology used in trenching with controlled blasting, which ensured the normal, safe and efcient execution of the work called, "Expansion and Improvement of Sanitation Service in “Ramón Castilla” in Otuzco district, Otuzco province, La Libertad department (Perú)". Since this work was to be executed within urban Otuzco, it was required special work to limit risks associated with using explosives for blasting rock. Blasting to excavate trenches for water and sewerage networks and interceptors within the urban area were done considering the proximity of the point of blasting to houses, the material of these houses, pedestrian and road trafic, and any other structure adjacent to the blasting point. For this reason, the diameter, direction and depth of drilling, technically required, were done so that when placing and activating the blast load, a controlled blast be achieved.
