Abstract

The present research study aims to determine the economic technical feasibility of implementing a reverse osmosis system in replacement of synthetic resin softeners for the treatment of the hardness of the feed wáter of the 400 BHP pirotubular cauldron from the company Alicorp SAA and to increase the generation of saturated steam. The current analysis, determined that the mass flow of purges with softeners is 1692 Kg / h with an energy efficiency of 74.92%. With the implementation of a reverse osmosis system, the mass flow of purges was reduced to 54.18 Kg / h, allowing the mass flow of steam to increase to 4917.82 Kg / h, with a saving in residual oil No. 6 of 5 gal / h, increasing the energy yield to 81.55%. The economic analysis allowed to obtain a profit of 105807.56 S./year, with an initial investment of 124040.00 S. / and a return period of the investment of 1.17 years. The financial analysis showed a net present value of $ 85431, with an internal rate of return of 81%, establishing that the project is feasible.
