Abstract

In the present investigation, an inclusive mobile application called ExploRA Trujillo was developed based on theories of augmented reality and geolocation in order to be used in smartphones, and thereby improve the tourist diffusion of the city of Trujillo in the year 2018. The population was made up of all the people who were registered in the tourist information office of the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo and who carried a mobile device as well. The sample was composed of 189 visitors, corresponding to the number of tourists in 2018, and it was made on the researcher’s convenience. Java as a programming language and Google Cloud solutions as development tools were chosen and, besides, the ICONIX methodology was also used. For the development of this research, the Pre-Test and Post-Test experimental design was used, taking surveys and time measurement as instruments according to the indicators proposed in this research. The results obtained were positive since the diffusion of tourist information and tourist satisfaction increased. In the same way, it was possible for tourists to reduce the average time spent searching for information regarding the attractions of the Historic Center of Trujillo. Finally, it was concluded that the implementation of the mobile application significantly influenced the tourist diffusion in the Provincial Municipality of Trujillo.
