The city of El Espinal has become a place where sports researchers have focused on, because it has many alternatives since everything related to sports is currently booming. This also occurs because there is a very good disposition of different organizations such as schools, clubs, associations or sports training groups, which have become the helping hand for the analysis of the different problems that affect sport and that affect athletes, making possible serious research processes with great scientific rigor. Due to the above, the idea was born to carry out a research process around a problem that is usually left aside in our context “that of bad sleeping habits in children and young athletes”. Insomnia is one of the factors that most affect the performance of an athlete. This is why it is of utmost importance to show that the time to sleep is transcendental since “During the sleep process the body not only gets energy, it also acquires a number of physical, mental and emotional benefits necessary for life. Throughout our lives we go through a series of changes at bedtime that gradually adapt to our needs” (González Quintero, 2017). The purpose of this work is to understand, know and treat insomnia affecting children between 11 and 13 years of age from the Leopardos basketball club in the city of El Espinal Tolima. The research management is based on sports work as a basis for the treatment of insomnia.
