Correlational descriptive, cross-sectional applied in patients with a diagnosis of diabetic foot belonging to the diabetes program Albrecht Hospital of Trujillo, whose objective was to determine the level of knowledge about self-care of the feet and their relation to the implementation of measures self-care of adult patients with diabetes. Whereas diabetes mellitus is the disease of the twenty-first century and diabetic foot one of the most frequent and serious complications consequences, so the nurse should promote primary prevention in order to avoid or delay the onset of injury. To which supported the theoretical foundations of Orem, a questionnaire was applied to 41 patients, the instrument consists of two parts and evaluates the level of knowledge and self-care measures respectively. Evidencing that 95% of the sample have a high level of knowledge, and 97% of the sample have an average level of self-care measures for the diabetic foot. To verify the statistical variables ratio chi-square test was used, with a significance level of <0.05. We conclude that; significant relationship exists between the level of knowledge about self-care of the feet and the implementation of self-care measures in adult patients with diabetes. (X2 = 24.47).
