Abstract

The present research sought to improve processes to increase the product quality of the Inversiones Harod S.A.C. of Trujillo tannery in the year 2016. The study population was composed of the processes of products called Cuero Graso (Fatty Leather) and 15 clients of the Inversiones Harod S.A.C. company. To this end, the techniques of direct observation, interview, quality function display, poka-yoke, FMAEA and FAMECA matrix, and ABC costing were used. The study allowed quality attributes of the product of greatest participation (fatty leather) to be determined: unstained, clean, flexible, good color, standard color, good touch, and without scourges. As a result, the fatty leather (cuero graso) was qualified as a “high quality” product with 82.59 % fulfillment of quality prerequisites. The improvements applied mainly influenced three of the attributes required by the client: clean, good color, and standard color, increasing the quality to 85.94% and proving the research hypothesis. The NPV (Net Present Value) was S /. 125 950.0 and the IRR (Internal Rate of Return on Investment) of 156%, higher than the ROA (return on average) of the company, demonstrating the profitability of the implemented proposals.
