This research determined the relationship between perception of workplace violence and presence of family dysfunction in resident physicians of the Hospital Belén de Trujillo during the period July 2016 and July 2017. A retrospective, correlational study was carried out with a sample made up of 51 residents. The instruments used were the Survey on violence in the health sector, a case study of the country prepared by the ILO (International Labor Organization) to determine the existence and type of workplace violence in the training of medical residents, and the Test of perception of family functioning (FF-SIL), which indicated the degree of family dysfunction. In order to establish the dependent relationship of the variables, the Pearson Chi-square test was applied; being these of nominal scale, the Cramer V Coefficient was complemented with a result of 0.399, which made it possible to conclude the moderate association between the variables studied.
