Abstract

This research was carried out to determine family functionality and family characteristics in 10 to 18 yearold pregnant women at Hospital Distrital "Santa Isabel"- El Porvenir during the year 2017. An applied cross-sectional research was conducted with a population of 20 pregnant adolescents, and it was found that family dysfunctionality in pregnant adolescents is quite high, with severe dysfunctionality predominating in 45% of those surveyed. Regarding family characteristics, adolescents between 15 and 18 years of age predominate (70 per cent). 60% are cohabitants, 75% come from urban areas, 45% come from extended single-parent families, and 80% are Catholic. More than half (65%) have secondary education, and it was concluded that 70% are economically dependent on their partner.
