The herniary pathology is currently a point of attention in academic and hospital environments, due to its impact on frequency as well as the repercussions that patients present. The objective of this study was to determine the clinical-epidemiological profile of incisional hernia, post laparotomy, of patients of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo, 2006-2016, with 189 patients, and the selection of the sample had a census character, carrying out a retrospective descriptive investigation. For data collection, a card was used, which obtained information from patient histories and the hospital database, processing the information through statistical tables. The research showed that the prevalence of incisional hernia was 0.012%, the lethality rate was 0%, the highest frequency of this disease was found in patients older than 61 (38.10%), 70.90% of patients were female, the majority of patients came from the coast, 123 (65.08%). Among the risk factors, we found obesity to be the most frequent in 93.49% of patients, the clinical characteristics of incisional hernia were pain, tumor and protrusion in post-laparotomy scar in 100% of cases, from which 98.94% were treated with hernioplasty with mesh implant.
