Abstract

A descriptive – correlacional research type and longitudinal style study was carried out with the purpose to determinate if relationship between the knowledge level of nurse about drugs administration and the prescriptions numbers that presented potential drugs interactions in the Unit of Intensive Care of the Regional Hospital of Trujillo during 2010. The sample was constituted by 10 nurses who carry out the established criterions and were utilized two instruments to measure the variables: recollection leaf of dates to compile prescript drugs in clinical information of patients considering age, sex, medical diagnostic of patient and prescript drugs in Kardex of the Unit of Intensive Care from October to November 2010. A test was used to determinate the knowledge level of nurse about administration drugs considering a Likert scale. The drugs interaction of sort pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics were 90.6% and 9.4% respectively, and the knowledge level of nurse about potential drugs interaction was down (50%), and the 59.2% de these presented interactions. In conclusion, it is evidentthat it exists a significant relationship (p < 0.05) between the knowledge level of nurse about drugs administration and prescriptions numbers that presented potential drugs interactions in the Unit of Intensive Care of the Regional Hospital of Trujillo during 2010.
