The objective of this research was to analyze the factors that determine employment status and its effect on children and adolescents in the District of Victor Larco. This cross-sectional descriptive study. We interviewed 1597 children and adolescents, which showed that the main reasons for child labor under 14 years old is helping his family and in the case of young workers, aged 14, is economic independence. Being the main work activity combined collector, waiters, farm occupations, workshops and bakeries, in the case of girls and adolescents are chores. Among the main factors behind child labor in children and adolescents in the District, include age, gender, among exogenous factors have the origin, and household characteristics such as the number of siblings who are child laborers and people work at home; between educational factors are located perceptions of children and adolescents with respect to education. We conclude that child labor has negative effects on the living conditions of the child and adolescent health damaging, especially children who are exposed in the streets, and in the educational aspect leading to a delay of grade level.
