Abstract

This work was carried out to characterize solid waste (RRSS) in the District of Victor Larco Herrera, Province of Trujillo, Peru. The study was conducted in July of 2012, we worked with the methodology proposed by the Pan American Center for Sanitary Engineering (CEPIS). We worked with a sample of 62 homes in the 14 sectors that have the district. During 08 days in a row were collected all solid waste produced by households samples weights were determined for each household solid waste, then there was a segregation of RR.SS. each household by type of component. With the same samples was determined the per capita daily production, moisture content and density of RRSS. We determined the per capita production of RRSS. to 0.453 Kg. / person / day, the daily production of 32.60 District Ton / day 16.90 Kg/m3 density and moisture of 52.30%. The highest percentage of RRSS. is composed of 62.50% organic matter, occur Second health remains 12.50%. including toilet paper, diapers and sanitary napkins; Thirdly occurs 7.11% of inert waste (soil and dust) occur Fourth plastic bags (checkbooks, soft plastic containers, etc.) that produces 3.68% and in fifth 3.55% occurs instead of paper (white and colored paper).
