The objective is to describe the characteristics of the Varicella outbreak in the insured population of La Libertad. Through descriptive study of 375 patients, according to the epidemiological variables of person, place and time. 50% of cases occurred in children under 5 years, 80% of cases came from Trujillo, La Esperanza, El Porvenir, Moche, Virú, Florencia de Mora and Laredo; 15% of children had complications; 95% of children were not vaccinated; two cases were infections associated with health care; Two patients died. The conclusions are, outbreak of propagated source; it predominated in children under 5 years old; Trujillo was the most frequent site of infection, low percentage of complications; high percentage of unvaccinated children; Nosocomial transmission was detected and two deaths occurred.
