The objective of this research was to evaluate the growth of Trichoderma asperellum in a solid medium using the pesticides cypermethrin (pyrethroid) and chlorpyrifos (organophosphate) as the only source of carbon. For this purpose, T. asperellum was cultivated on the Minimum Salt Agar medium, which had cypermethrin (480 ppm) and chlorpyrifos (250 ppm) as the only carbon sources. The control had glucose as its only source of carbon. The results showed that T. asperellum can grow in both media using pesticides as a single carbon source and its growth rates were 2.88 ± 0.05 mm/day (cypermethrin) and 2.74 ± 0.05 mm/day (chlorpyrifos). In conclusion, T. asperellum is capable of using the pesticides cypermethrin and chlorpyrifos through catabolic processes and has the potential to be used in bioremediation of pesticides of contaminated soils.
