Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

DEFINITION:

The UCV-SCIENTIA journalis a semi-annual scientific publication of the Graduate School of the César Vallejo University, whose purpose is the communication and promotion of knowledge as a result of scientific research in all fields of knowledge cultivated at the University and in other institutions. This journal is aimed at all national and international researchers and consists of sections such as: original research, scientific essays, review articles, case studies, bibliographic reviews and letters to the editor.

The works received for the UCV-SCIENTIA journal must be original and unpublished, these are evaluated by members of the Editorial Committee and external and internal referees, according to criteria of creativity, originality and contribution to scientific, technological and innovation knowledge.

PRESENTATION

The article can be delivered to the editor electronically, attaching a certificate of originality of the article (download), detailing that the article has not been submitted (neither totally nor partially) for publication or for evaluation in another journal;

The consignment of the work does not imply any commitment to publication.

STATEMENT OF ETHICAL STANDARDS IN RESEARCH

Scientia Journal assumes the COPE code of conduct for editors and the "Principles of Transparency and Good Practices in Academic Publications" (Publications Ethics Committee), as well as the recommendations of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) to which it belongs, the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA) and the "SciELO Guide of Good Practices for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publishing".

In compliance with these good practices, the journal makes sure to monitor the scientific quality of the publications and the adequate response to the needs of its readers, authors and reviewers. The corrections, retractions and clarifications that are necessary will be published by the editor of the journal. In addition, in the peer review process, the journal has published the type of arbitration it performs in the selection of papers and guarantees the confidentiality of the evaluation process.

ARBITRATION SYSTEM

The quality and rigor of the consigned works will be evaluated in the first instance by the Editorial Committee, who after verifying that the % of similarity in turnitin is not greater than 15%, will request the evaluation of specialist referees in the areas, otherwise the article will be returned in primary correction.

The arbitration system adopted for the journal is double-blind, made up of different specialists in the relevant areas, externally and anonymously. The evaluation of the manuscripts will be made according to criteria of: originality, social relevance, topicality, scientific rigor and compliance with editorial standards.

The final publication decision, after the evaluation process, may be: 1. Publication without modifications, 2. Publication with substantial modifications of form and content and 3. Not publishable

5. STANDARDS AND PRESENTATION OF PAPERS

Papers sent for evaluation must comply with the following standards for publication:

  1. Every article sent to the “UCV-Scientia” must be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese. The article must be accompanied by the respective electronic files of the text, legend and tables in MS-Word, graphics in MS-Excel and other illustrations in JPG format (It is mandatory to upload the file with authors and the anonymized file). Figures can be maps, diagrams, photographs, diagrams, drawings, graphs, etc. Drawings and photos of structures and organisms should be scaled to facilitate determination of magnification. Only digital photos with resolutions greater than 600 dpi, in JPG format, are accepted. Units from the International System of Measurements must be used. If it is necessary to add measurements in other systems, the corresponding abbreviations must be defined in the text. Decimals with comma, not period (example: 0,5).
  2. All papers must contain a cover page that includes the title of the work in Spanish and English, the name of the author(s) according to their role within the study presented, city, country, ORCID code, their institutional address, email and a curricular summary that does not exceed 10 lines.
  3. The articles must be original and include final research results, in addition to not having been published in any media nor being in the process of publication, it being the responsibility of the authors to comply with this standard. To prepare it, use the UCV-Scientia Template. Likewise, contributions to the journal can be:
  • Research: 5,000/7,000 words of text, including title, summaries, descriptors, tables and references.
  • Reviews: 6,000/7,500 words of text, including tables and references. Comprehensive review of the state of the art of a recent and current research topic. Justified and selective references of up to 100 works will be valued.
  • Scientific essays, Studies, and Proposals: 5,000/7,000 words, including title, summaries, descriptors, tables and references.
  • Historical reviews: 5,000/6,000 words, including title, summaries, descriptors, tables and references.
  • Letters to the editor: One page including title, summaries, descriptors, tables and references
  1. The article must be sent exclusively in an electronic file in Word format by the OJS 3.1.0.1 Platform. All authors must register, with their credits, on the OJS platform, although only one will be responsible for correspondence. No author may submit or have two manuscripts under review simultaneously.

It is mandatory that all citations that have a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System) be reflected in the References (can be obtained at https://search.crossref.org/).  All journals and books that do not have a DOI must appear with their link (in their online version, if they have one, shortened).
