Psychometric evidence of the factorial structure of the ambivalent sexism inventory in brazilian and portuguese

The present study aims to compare the structure two-dimensional of the Ambivalent Sexism in samples from Brazil and Portugal. 802 subjects (408 Portuguese and 394 Brazilian), ages from 16 to 66 years participated in the study and answered the ambivalent sexism inventory and demographic questions. In both samples, most were women (64%) and 84% were single.. An analysis of structural modeling, it was confirmed in both samples, the two-dimensional sexism, observing a positive association between hostile and benevolent sexism. The result, besides to corroborate other studies in other countries, supports the theory of ambivalent sexism, which can be seen in social dynamics, independent of culture and context sample.
