Economic study for the installation of an organic panela processing plant and its impact on the economy of the farmers of Cumba District, Utcubamba Province, Amazonas Region.

The panela agro-industry in Peru is developing rapidly, especially in the Amazon region. In this regard, it is important to know in detail the production process and solid granulated panela panela, developing local technology capable of addressing the challenges that involve agribusiness, so, in this research work has developed a proposal for the installation of a processing plant for organic panela, in the District of Cumba, Utcubamba province in the Amazon Region, which aims to assess the impact of the economic study for the installation of a processing plant for organic panela in the economy of farmers district Cumba, Utcubamba province, Amazonas region.
The need for funding is $ 63259.31, the sources of financing for the initial investment (90%) have Research and Development Fund for Competitiveness (FIDECOM), led by the Ministry of Production: The PIPEA (Productive Innovation Projects); The PIPEI (Productive Innovation Projects for individual companies) and The PIMEN (Minor Projects Productive Innovation); 10% is equity and working capital will be funded by the Continental Bank. The project is very profitable, considering a discount rate of 14% obtain a NPV (net present value) of S /. 746586.26 and an IRR (internal rate of return) of 3583% with a capital recovery period (PRC) of 2.41 years; Benefit / cost ratio is 1.60. A good price sensitivity by reducing the price to $ 500 a ton of panela obtain a NPV of S /. 150085.13 and an IRR of 132%; However if we consider the demand is 10% less than what was expected at a price of $ 500 per ton of panela it has a NPV of S /. 32746.43 and an IRR of 32%, indicating good profitability.
According to the perspective of farmers, the installation of panela plant will have a positive impact on its economy.
