Abstract

In this article we present the application of the finite element method to determine the vertical deformations, rotational deformations, forces and moments of the elements of a cantilever and recessed beam. It shows how the beam elements are applied to a cantilever beam problem to determine the vertical deformations and the angles of rotation. Truss type elements are applied to a doubly-embedded beam problem subjected to an axial force to a problem of an elastic beam.
