Abstract

The empathy can be define as construct as an affective answer with evolutionary origin of which is more appropriate to the other's situation than one's own. Several scales have been measuring empathy in the Brazilian context, but the multidimensional interpersonal reactivity scale has a theoretical support and more organized construct when compared to other scales. In Brazil, this scale was adapted and validated in an exploratory study. Existing some psychometric limits in the previous study, it's aimed to assess, from a structural modeling analysis, the consistency of this scale. Two samples of subjects, male and female, over  14 years, the high school and college educational level responded to multidimensional interpersonal reactivity scale. It was observed, in both samples, the structural analysis of psychometric indicators of the scale ensured both the structure and item-factor structure for the accuracy of two Brazilian samples.
