Relationship between labor stress and Burnout syndrome in taxi drivers of the city of Trujillo. Perú, 2019

Objective: To determine the relationship between work stress and Burnout Syndrome in taxi drivers from the city of Trujillo in Peru in the months of may – june 2019. Material and Methods: An analytical – cross – sectional study was carried out on work stress and Burnout Syndrome in a population of 50 taxi drivers in the city of Trujillo in Peru. The technique applied was the survey. Work– related stress was measured through the "Stress Assessment Questionnaire" in its third version, while Burnout Syndrome through the "Maslach Burnout Inventory – General Survey" Questionnaire. Results: It was observed that the most frequent age group was between 27 and 38 years old, in addition 48 % of taxi drivers worked between 8 – 10 hours a day. A high stress level of 72 %, an average stress level of 16 % and a low stress level of 12 % of drivers were evident. In the dimensional analysis of Burnout Syndrome, it was observed that 70 % had a high level of emotional attrition, 66 % had a high level of cynicism and 44 % had a high level of work efficiency. Finally, it was statistically evident (p value = 0,014) relationship between work stress and Burnout Syndrome. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between work stress and Burnout Syndrome in taxi drivers.
