Abstract

The objective of thisresearchwork wasto determine the incidence of nutritional information on food labelsin the decision to purchase the consumer of the city of Trujillo. Likewise, it was inquired about the preference of the public in relation to two bills presented in the Peruvian Congress regarding food labeling: the traffic light or the octagon. The research had a quantitative approach, descriptive scope and non-experimental design. The survey was used as a technique and the data were collected through a questionnaire that was applied to a sample of 384 people. The results indicate that consumers have a low level of understanding regarding the nutritional information of food labels and that these data also have little influence on the purchase decision. In relation to the labeling proposals, 59%of the public preferred the traffic light.
