Abstract

The translations made or attributed to César Vallejo have become the nerve center of this study that closely links the data that allows you to demonstrate which works have been translated by the poet from Santiago, such as En el Perú: en torno al continente latino con el “Jules Michelet”; Elevación y La calle sin nombre; Elevation and The street without name. It is also admissible and unquestionable that he has made the translation of Ribemont and Reverdy poems which, definitely, do not correspond to him and, due to some confusion, have been attributed to him, as in the case of the novel La jument verte, 1933 In the end, Vallejo’s idea about the denial of the translation of poetry and at the same time the scathing criticism about the lack of originality in the Latin American avant-garde.
