Shoes import and its influence on sales of footwear sector MYPES, District El Porvenir 2007 – 2011

Abstract

The study is a quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive simple. Was performed in order to determine how footwear import safe sales of the footwear sector MYPES District El Porvenir in the last five years. It had a population of 1638 manufacturers (MYPES) and a sample of 152. Technique was applied to the survey and document analysis. According to the analysis of the results footwear imports in the period 2007-2011 have grown significantly. Taking 2007 as the base year, footwear imports in 2008 grew by 325%, in 2009 there was a growth of 368% compared to the base year, like wise in 2010 and 2011, imports increased by 492% and 612% respectively, being the main supplier China representing a 76% participation. The linear regression statistical test and Pearson correlation coefficient, the result was r=-0807, indicated that there is an inverse correlation, as imports increase, decrease sales, concluding that imports of footwear are impacting negatively on sales of MYPES, decreasing in 2011 up to 15%, affecting their growth.
