Academic procrastination and self-efficacy in high school Students of Simón Bolívar School in Tarapoto

The goal of this research was to determine the relationship between procrastination and academic self-efficacy in high school students of Simón Bolívar School in Tarapoto. The sample was made up of 117 students from the 4th and 5th grades of the above-mentioned school. The research design was non-experimental of correlational descriptive type. The instruments used were the Academic Procrastination Scale (APS) and the Self-Efficacy Rating Scale, based on Bandura´s theory. The results showed that the predominant procrastination dimension is the cognitive dimension with 44.4%. The level of self-efficacy that prevailed for the majority of students (38.5%) was "High".Finally, the Spearman correlation coefficient showed that there is a significant inverse correlation between academic procrastination and self-efficacy (r= -,350**, p= 0.00), which gave as a result that
the higher the academic procrastination, the lower the self-efficacy in the 4th and 5th year students of Simón Bolívar High School in Tarapoto.
