Health risk analysis of grey water in the province of Trujillo, Covicorti
Keywords:
Gray water, Health riskAbstract
The wastewater generated from domestic activities such as laundry, dishwashing, and bathing, when is disposed separately from the toilet discharges, is defined as greywater. Nevertheless its differences with sewage or wastewater, the presence of pathogenic microorganisms, and consequently the risks of disease transmission, was demonstrated in graywaters. The objective of this study is to evaluate the health risk, through a microbiologic analysis of greywater in the province of Trujillo - estate Covicorti. The bacteria that were detected in the samples analysed were Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, which are bacteria with increased risk for people's health. The results of this analysis vary since sampling points were in different areas of the place of study; the first point (M1) was one in which the largest number of colonies (CFU) met both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus because this point is where the gray water entering the treatment plant; the second (M2) was found in fewer bacteria mentioned above because the samples were taken in the aerated lagoon where they already are receiving a pre treatment; the third (M3) is take the sample in the facultative lagoon where the presence of the bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus was very low as in this lagoon waters have gone through a process which is achieved to reduce the microbial load.
