Abstract

Abstract
The main objective of the present investigation was to determine the efficacy of Citrus aurantifolia oil as a larvicide on Aedes aegypti larvae in stage III. The population consisted of 103 larvae of Aedes aegypti in stage III, an instrument of data collection validated by experts was used, where the values of concentrations used, times, temperature, number of dead individuals and percentage of mortality were recorded. The variables analyzed were independent: the essential oil Citrus aurantifolia and temephos; and dependent on larvicidal efficacy. The results obtained demonstrate the efficacy of the solution of Citrus aurantifolia as a larvicide against stage III larvae of Aedes aegypti, with a lethal concentration to kill 50% of larvae, LC50, of 0,54 g / liter. It was determined that the essential oil of Citrus aurantifolia (lemon) is more effective (128,75%) as a larvicide on Aedes aegypti larvae (stage III) than temephos (1,03%). The mortality rate of Aedes aegypti larvae (stage III) using 0,08% Citrus aurantifolia oil, at 24 hours was 100%; equal to the mortality rate achieved using temephos at 1%. The 0,08% concentration achieved a 100% mortality rate at 24 hours, equaling the temephos mortality rate at 1%. At a level of significance of 0,05 (95%) the p-value obtained was 0,012 as a consequence (p <0,05), so the Ho is rejected and the H1 is accepted: the larvicidal efficacy of the essential oil of Citrus aurantifolia is greater Temephos on Aedes aegypti larvae, in vitro study. Likewise, there is a high degree of correlation, 0,864 among the variables analyzed, very close to the unit.
