Abstract

Strategic management is understood as a process in which organizational strategies are planned, executed, controlled and evaluated based on objectives and associated with participation, commitment and leadership. Likewise, decision making is understood as a process through which a specific choice is made by previously attending to or analyzing different options or contextual situations, with the purpose of solving a current or potential problem. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of managerial strategies on decision making in a university educational institution in Lima and the sample consisted of 350 employees. The descriptive results indicate that managerial strategies are at the regular level and represent 54.0%. Likewise, decision making is at the moderate level with 56.0%. On the other hand, in response to the general objective, it is concluded that strategic management influences 55.6% of the variability of decision making. This effect suggests that the authorities of the academic and research vice-rectorates take this causal relationship into account in the planning and execution of institutional academic and research projects. For future research on this topic, it is suggested to increase the sample size and to use other techniques for the collection of information such as interviews, which will allow receiving the opinions of the experts and incorporating different points of view.
