This thesis includes the design of a hydraulic folding machine for steel plates up to 12.7 mm thick and thus increase produc tivity in the company METAL SUR DEL PERU E.I.R.L. from the city of Trujillo.
The needs of the company were determined through interviews with different workers. Then 6 solution concepts were proposed and submitted to a selection matrix, to achieve a winning concept. After that, the configuration design was carried out where 4 different configurations were made. The gamer configuration was subjected to a parametric analysis with the help of a Graphical User Interface (GUI-Matlab) for the main components. Parametric analysis was also used by means of the finite element method (FEM-Solidworks) to analyze the von Mises effort, total deformation and safety factor in the same elements. Finally, the main standard components and the preparation of plans were selected. The general dimensions of the machine were determined in 3 m high, 0.2 m vertical punch displacement, 3.2 m long, 1.5 m wide, the height of the iron to be folded up to 1 m and the height of the control panel to 1.4 m . The winners were the concept based on a hydraulic driven squeezer and the configuration with the cylinders on the top, control pedal and articulated control board. The maximum calculated folding load is 2 000 KN, the maximum system pressure of 341bar, the pump flow rate of 59.58 l / min and a required power of 15.6 KW. And through the parametric analysis, an overall safety factor of 2.4 was obtained.
