Abstract

This article is based on an energy audit of the thermal power plant in Rankine steam cycle saturated in the Bethlehem Hospital of Trujillo to increase efficiency, achieving lower costs in consumption of industrial oil N°6, meaning through improving in the transport system and steam condensate recovery and deployment of an air preheater for waste gases.

Current conditions of Manser boiler 100bhp operating at a pressure of 7.9 bar absolute, with a mass flow of saturated steam 1566 kg / h, temperature of feed water 40°C, temperature waste gases 265°C were evaluated, 27.32 air-fuel ratio, temperature of air and fuel at ambient conditions of 25°C, for such initial conditions energy efficiency of the boiler of 79.7% and an energy efficiency of the thermal plant of 75% was obtained.

Energy losses were evaluated in the network of pipes carrying steam current status from the manifold to the process of heat exchange: CSSD, kitchen and laundry thermal insulation of fiberglass, finding a loss in fuel consumption of 10643.4 Gal / year.

A retrieval system mass flow of condensate from the processes of heat exchange is implemented, achieving increasing temperature at 107.12°C, saving 19315.8 Gal / year of fuel and water saving replacement 4798.5 m3 /year. Also it implemented a preheater for heating the air of the boiler to 100°C, achieving savings 11237,328 Gal / fuel year. Allowing a total savings of 41193.9 Gal / year.

The energy audit allowed increase boiler efficiency to 86% and energy efficiency of the thermal plant to 85%, which leads to an initial investment of 83559 S/ year for a net profit of 315,393 S/ year, with an operational period of the initial investment in 3 months.
