Use of inventory management to reduce warehouse costs of a construction company

The main purpose of this study was to apply inventory management to reduce warehouse costs of a construction company. Materials and methods. An applied type of research was carried out, with a quantitative approach and a pre-experimental design. Techniques such as the survey, data analysis and documentary analysis were used. Using instruments such as a questionnaire and an Ishikawa diagram that helped identify the process to improve to achieve cost reduction in the warehouse area. In addition, the use of the Pareto diagram, Kardex, ABC method, EOQ, ROP and a documentary record sheet for the application of the ABC classification. Results. Of which it was possible to find a highly relevant problem that they do not schedule their activities, do not have inventory control, and the costs in the pre-test were S /. 114,984.54. Conclusions. After the implementation of the improvement, it is concluded that an improvement in inventory management manages to reduce storage costs by up to 26.38%, that is, a saving in monetary units of S/. 41,205.30.
